Nature poem

Hailing after the dismal rain,
What stretches o'er Ouranos's terrain?
O what a magical sight,
Shining forth with thine majestic light!
Reaching twice across the sky,
Towards the mountains high.
Your covenant with Noah so benign,
Being God's own sign.
Your colors glisten like a nightly star,
admiring all the wonders that you are.

Non-Conformity excerpt

God put me on this planet to be me. I am here to fulfill a very specific mission that the Lord designed me to accomplish with everything I have. As long as I am playing along with what our culture tells me is success, fun, happiness, or for that matter what failure and dishonor is, I will never know. I will never know if society is telling me the truth or force feeding me untruths three meals a day. I will never find out what the meaning of life really is. We are told as little school children, that we are all different, unique individuals who are capable of accomplishing anything we put our mind to. If this is true, then why do all men have to be physically and emotionally strong? Why does anybody have to fit their stereotypes? On that notion, if we truly believe we are our own person, then why do you buy something simply because everyone has it? Why do you do you do something because everyone else is doing the same thing, if you are you?

Society is nothing but a chair to which you are strapped to by think iron chains in a dark room. On the opposite wall is a single window of which you have the capability to look out and see the world. The twist is that you can only see a straight line out side of that window and nothing to either side of it. Life to those that conform to society is the window. If you allow yourself to become caught in that chair, to you, everything worthwhile in life is what you can see out of the limited range of vision you have outside the window because that is all you know exists. However, there is a way out. It is possible to escape from these chains, we just have not yet obtained the knowledge of escaping.

If you wish to hear the snapping of the chains as you break free out into the world, one must not fear themselves. You must believe that statement that you heard plenty before as a little school boy or schoolgirl, that we are all different and unique personalities. The second you step away from from the restraints of society, you can now decide what is worth it in life. Life is a story waiting to be written and the author is you! When you break free you now have the capability to get full range of vision outside that window on the opposite wall. You can see the exciting points in life and enjoy them more now because you can see them longer. Whereas, before, you could only see these things if they came up to the window. Although you could see these things before, they would usually fly right by before you could enjoy it for a moment in a rush of wind. If you do this you will discover that the meaning of life is just that discovery! Society cannot do this, but only you if you choose to separate from the restraint of society. From henceforth, you can soar like an eagle, roar like a lion, you can do and discover anything you want, once you reject society.

Celebration of the Simplified Life

A picture of my scout troop's camp site during summer camp at Broad Creek Scout Reservation. Camping is celebration of the simplified life because you do not have Wi-Fi connection or other electronic devices such as cell phones, Nintendo game systems, X-Box, Play Station.

Intuition over Reason

A picture of one of my cats licking my brother's head. Intuition is going off of habit rather than thought. Almost every other living thing does not have the ability to think like we do. Our cat is most likely doing this out of habit of cleaning his fur.

Non-conformity

My brother is the only person we know that goes out in the winter, when it is 30 degrees in shorts and a T-shirt. Nothing like wearing a short sleeved shirt in a snow storm.

Importance of Nature

A flowing stream illustrates the ideal of the importance of nature because all living things need water in order to live and the first civilizations were almost always settled near a body of water. Now we have developed other methods of obtaining water.

Self-Reliant

This is a picture of me on the trail in Philmont. Philmont is Scouting's most famous high adventure base. It involves a 10 day backpacking trip along with other activities along the way. During the trek, each crew is responsible for carrying food, water, and all other equipment for themselves.
